There was a moment in my life when fear completely took over my heart. I was shopping at a big store like Walmart with my two boys. One was three years old, the other six. In just one moment only when I turned around and realized one of my children was gone. One child was standing next to me, but the other was nowhere to be found.
I called his name.
No answer.
I searched the aisles.
I walked faster.
Then I ran.
My heart started pounding. My mind filled with fear. I didn’t know what to do. I was about to go to the front desk and ask for help when suddenly, I saw him—my child—walking toward the front desk, holding hands with a store employee. He was crying.
In that moment, everything stopped.
Relief flooded my heart. Gratitude filled my soul. I was so thankful that he was found. That moment left a deep mark on me. After that, I never wanted to let my children out of my sight—not even for a moment. The feeling of losing a child, even briefly, was unbearable.
That fear taught me something important.
As parents, we understand that pain instantly. But as I reflected later, I realized how much this mirrors our spiritual life.
So often, we wander away without realizing it.
One moment, we are close to God. The next, we are distracted. Busy. Focused on something else. We don’t mean to get lost—but we do. And when we are lost, God is not standing still. He is searching. He is watching. He is protecting us, even before we cry out.
Just like my child didn’t find his way back alone, we don’t either.
God places people, moments, and grace in our path to guide us back. Even when we feel scared, confused, or separated, God has not lost sight of us. Not for a second.
This story reminds me that:
- God’s heart for us is greater than a parent’s fear
- Being lost does not mean being forgotten
- Protection is often already in place before we realize we need it
If you are in a season where you feel lost—emotionally, spiritually, or in life—remember this:
God is looking for you.
God knows where you are.
And God is already guiding you back.
What feels like a terrifying moment may become a testimony of gratitude later.
The moment I thought I had lost was found.
And the same is true with God.
He never stops watching over His children.
